Common questions

What people askbefore they book.

Hours, parking, billing and results. If you have any other questions, a quick phone call is always welcome.

What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. We are closed on weekends and public holidays.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

An appointment is required. You can book online at any time, or call the practice on (03) 9534 5151 during opening hours.

Will I see the same doctor each time?

Yes. Dr Michael Battat is the practice's only GP, so every appointment is with him. That is the point of a practice this size: your history stays with the person you are talking to.

Am I eligible for bulk billing?

Bulk billing is available to patients under 16, DVA card holders, pensioners and concession card holders. If you are unsure, simply ask reception when booking.

Is there parking, and is the practice accessible?

Free on-site parking and accessible entry are both at the rear. A restroom is available on-site. We are located at 125 Chapel Street, St Kilda, close to both tram and train.

Can I book a longer appointment if I need more time?

Yes. If you have multiple concerns or something that needs more time to work through properly, simply request a long consultation when booking.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

Yes. You are welcome to have a family member, friend, carer or interpreter with you during your consultation. If at any point you would rather speak with Dr Battat on your own, just say so.

Is what I tell the practice kept confidential?

Yes. What you discuss in the consultation, what is written in your record and what is said at reception are all treated as confidential. Everyone who works here is under confidentiality obligations, and your record is only opened by the people involved in your care. Our privacy policy sets out how your information is collected, stored and shared.

How will I get my test results?

Non-urgent results are discussed via telehealth. If anything requires attention sooner, we will contact you directly.
